Description
Up for auction is the very hard to find 60's surf lp called Surfin' Wild by Jim Waller and the Deltas. It is a rare Australian pressing, on the Hifi Record label (cat# A432). This is one of my alltime favourite 60's instrumental surf albums, as i think its a bit cruisier than bands like The Atlantics, but not as cheesy as some of the other surf music of the time. As mentioned, this is a very hard to find lp, especially being an Australian pressing. The cover is in Good (average) condition, with light ringwear, cornerwear and creasing. A 5 inch spine split is the most obvious flaw.
Visually, the record looks OK. It has a lot of light marks and scratches, and a couple of deeper ones on each side. There is a little bit of dust/residue on side 2 as well. There is no warping or heat damage. The record plays better than it looks. On my turntable, it played through on both sides without sticking or jumping, although it did have some noticable background crackle. I'll grade the sound quality as Good (average).
The labels are both VG, They show light spindle wear, but are still clean with no writing, stickers, or residue.
As you can see, not a perfect copy, but still good for playing or would make a great display piece or collection filler. Regardless, this is a very hard to find lp, and a must for anyone who collects surf memorabilia or 60's surf music. Can be picked up from Mt Martha, Vic, or will post Australia wide for $9.00 (bubble wrap, sandwhiched in cardboard, and sent in an Aus Post padded bag). Registered post will be an additional $2.80.
