The RED GARLAND QUINTET - SOUL JUNCTION (featuring John Coltrane and Donald Byrd)
Great condition 1957 UK 1st press copy of this highly collectable jazz rarity with the sparingly played gleaming vinyl and wonderfully impressive audio quality being true highlights
Year/Label : 1957 UK ESQUIRE Label number : 32-136 Matrix numbers : PRLP - 7181 - A / PRLP - 7181 - B with "RVG" stamped into each run-off Stampers : A / AExcellent plus (EX+) condition, weighty, flat and jet black sheen vinyl - in normal daylight the condition of both sides of the vinyl comes across as perfect, and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that two very small and very faint scuff marks can be identified on A1 and a few tiny and very light scuff marks and similarly faint small graze on B1 are revealed - each surface only, non-feelable and purely superficial. There are also two small areas (each the size of a small fingernail) of fading on the side 1 dead wax area - again, very trivial and obviously not impinging upon playback at all. No hairlines, no warping, completely flat and retaining it's original jet black sheen...wonderful! Pristine labels - I can just about make out a few small and extremely faint spindle trails on each label but apart from that the labels remain unmarked. Clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played. Front-side laminated CYANART LTD. excellent (EX) condition flipback outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges; perfect condition 1st press ultra thin spine, and near perfectly defined right angled corners with barely any rubbing at all. The opening edges remain straight and taut with no fraying or foxing and there is no discernible laminate lifting or creasing - amazing! The only blemishes are some very minor horizontal handling/storage lines on the reverse side top and bottom flipbacks (see photos) on the reverse side along with the occasional very light and very minor handling/storage mark. Apart from these very minor aberrations the condition of the sleeve is hard to fault with all art work, colouring and text remaining beautifully intact. Superb excellent plus (EX+) audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, interference or distortion and not even the hint of any background crackle - extraordinary for vinyl of this age. You may be able to detect the very occasional, very light background inconsequential click but if so it is only down to the odd speck of dust being caught in the grooves through decades of storage. Great tone with crystal clear instrumentation and every track a great listen with Donald Byrd (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor-sax), Red Garland (piano), George Joyner (bass), and Arthur Taylor (drums) at the top of their game. Comes with great condition "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" with "PATENT..." texts poly-lined inner sleeve with no edge splits, no tears or rips or edge fraying, and barely any age discolouration or creasing. There cannot be many copies of this very rare UK 1st press jazz gem in better condition than this!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
