ITEM: PLEASE NOTE: The front right side of the album cover IS NOT TORN OR MISSING. The original cover picture was designed and printed with a jagged white space on the right side, giving the impression that a large piece of the artwork was missing. VERY Scarce and collectible 10" Japanese Pressing LP, " Memories ", by Billie Holiday, nicknamed " Lady Day". Released by Nippon - Columbia, Deep Groove Label, catalog number ZL-1106. This appears to be an extremely rare First Pressing. Stamper numbers are 3PM-1197-1, and 3PM-1198-1. The number "1" following the stampers usually indicates a First Stamping ( or Pressing ).
COMMENTS/CONDITION: This LP came from a private collection. I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER SIMILAR LP's FROM THE SAME COLLECTION THAT I AM LISTING AS TIME PERMITS. Grading is according to Goldmine Standards. Record was visually inspected, and test played. If you are not familiar with Goldmine's system, please go to the Goldmine web site and read the grading details BEFORE YOU BID.
The vinyl is in strong VG+ , retaining a nice luster. There are no warps, cracks, or chips. A close inspection under a bright light source shows some wispy scuffs and light scratch marks, which appear mostly cosmetic with little effect upon the listening enjoyment of the record. On my older system, both sides played clearly with no loud background noise, explosive pops, skips, or groove lock. There were a few occasional soft tics, which in my opinion, did not distract from the performances.
All sound systems are different. This information is provided for reference only, and is not meant to be a statement as to the results you may experience from your equipment.
The Deep Groove labels are in very good, clean condition, with no tears, peeling edges, or stains. A very few light spindle marks can be seen.
I have not tried to clean the disc or labels. Serious collectors usually have their own preferred methods of maintaining their records.
The laminated cover is in VG+ condition, still covered by the original shrink wrap. There are several rips in the cellophane, but it remains in one piece. There is minor ring wear visible and two small tears on the opening edge of the back cover. Art work colors are crisp and bright. Photos and graphics are clear and sharp.
