ROGER WATERS THE PROS AND CONS OF HITCH HIKING. 1st PRESSING A-2U/B-1U. EX+
My listening equipment is a highly revealing Yamaha PF-800 turntable (equal to a 1990s LP12 – I am not familiar with the modern ones that cost more than a small car), pre/power amps and B&W Matrix Reference speakers. Before listing I always clean LPs on a vacuum record cleaning machine and I always determine audio quality by playing the LP not just by visual inspection. For this LP I have used an Ortofon OM10 MM cartridge.
Played on my system, this LP grades Excellent+ with just some trivial, very minor background noise to the intro of the first track on Side 2 – only mentioned for accuracy. The gatefold cover is in very good condition with just some small thumbnail creases near the spine (see close-up photo), a small scuff to the back just below the catalogue number (see photo) and some minor indentation marks (see close-up photo). The small indention shown, which is only visible in angled light, was caused by a retailer putting a sticker on the cover and then writing the date and price on the sticker using a biro. IDIOT! It’s bound to leave an imprint when the sticker is removed. I wouldn’t mind but his records were such good value I bought over 60 – all with price imprints. I once saw a retailer in the process of committing this crime so I tactfully gave him the helpful advice that if he was to write the price on the sticker first and THEN put the sticker on the cover, he would not leave an imprint – I was practically frogmarched out of the shop. But I digress.
