~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I've been going thru my massive vinyl record collection this summer and pulling out some LPs that I thought that someone else would want for their collection. I've been collecting records for over 40 years and it's time to pass some of them on to the next generation of collectors.
This week on EBay I am offering up this fantastic, clean copy of the classic 'Collector' albums "Rape of the Vaults" and "Gravestones".
This is my original copy from the mid 70s that I've taken great care of for many years. See the full description of the jacket and vinyl condition below.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This week on EBay we are offering up this rare Rolling Stones 2-LP collector's record which compiles 2 of their very early 'Collector' Records, "Rape of the Vaults" and "Gravestones".
This release, from the mid 1970s, is on the Dragonfly "Sound of the Sixties" label. The story goes that it used the same plates as earlier RSVP pressings of these classic and rare LPs.
One disc has a light blue label, with the 'Dragonfly' design on one side and a basic label on the flip side.The other LP has a lime green label, with basic labels on both sides.
This 2-LP compilation of Rolling Stones 'Rarities' comes in a single white sleeve that is NOT a Gatefold. The 2 LPs sit side-by-side in one jacket.
The album cover features a classic timeless picture of Brian Jones from the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. It is printed on Blue paper which is gently attached to the plain white jacket. No tape, no writing, no damage or tears.
The cover is in very nice, clean condition with a very slight 'wrinkle' on the top, to the left of the tree behind Brian.
The songs on this album are listed on the front cover.
The 'Rape of the Vaults' disc contains some classic songs from the Brian Jones Era, 1964/1965. 
When this album was released, ‘It Should Be You’, was unique and not available on any other record of this type. It was written by Jagger/Richards and Mick has said in interviews that it was the first song he and Keith wrote together. It was released as a promo 45 by an unknown UK singer George Bean and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. There has long been debate among us Stones collectors whether this version has Mick singing or not. The debate continues, but it IS the very first Jagger/Richards song ever written and interesting to hear. I had to listen to this song again before I listed this album. To my ears, it sounds similar to the early 'Rice Krispies' jingle they did back then. 
The 'Gravestones' disc contains some rare live and studio songs from after Brian passed away, mostly from 1968-1975.
The 'Black & Blue Jam' would be released later as 'Slave'. 'Brown Sugar' was recorded at Keef's birthday party in 1970 and features Eric Clapton.  'Too Many Cooks' was a studio track produced by John Lennon. I'll list all the songs on these 2 albums and the sources below.
Overall, a fantastic double LP of rare and collectible Rolling Stones from 2 different periods in their career.

First pressings were on the RSVP label with rubber stamped jackets. Then the 'Idle Mind' label, Vicky Vinyl's Company. Then it was released on the 'Ruthless Rhymes' label, with the famous 'Dog & Pistol' labels.
Then this pressing, 1977/78, supposedly using RSVP original plates, was released on the 'Dragonfly' "Sound Of The 60's" label. 
There have been several other pressings over the years, including a Picture Disc version, colored vinyl versions and as part of the famous "Black Box" set with "Beautiful Delilah" added on to make it a 3-LP Box.

Add this rare. classic, Rolling Stones record to your collection. It has some great, rare songs and the records hold a special place in the history of collectible Rolling Stones records.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~CONDITION:I tried to show good hi-resolution photos of the cover, labels and vinyl in my pictures.
VINYL: The vinyl is still in quite nice condition. Side 2 has some light hairline scratches, but plays fine. The other 3 sides are crisp and clean. This record company didn't use the best quality vinyl, so there is some background noise, but overall it sounds quite good. Strong VG+ and likely even better.
LABELS. The labels are clean and bright, The only issue is that the previous owner wrote a '3' and '4' on the second disc to help tell the sides apart. It's done nicely but is an added feature. The spindle holes are clean, suggesting infrequent or very careful play.
JACKET: The jacket is fine, The blue insert has a small 'wrinkle' as noted above. Otherwise clean and bright.
I've owned this record since the mid 70s and it has been sleeved and kept in great condition for around 45 years now. It's about as good a copy of this mid 70s release as you're likely to find.
