Description

Mega rare first-issue copy of debut RUSH LP on MERCURY CANADA (SRM 1-1011; 1974)!!  Much much rarer than either the first RUSH 45 or LP on MOON RECORDS -- scarcely appears on eBay -- mostly only found in the best of RUSH collections!

LP with RUSH in red letters on front/back cover; MOON RECORDS logo on back cover; MOON RECORDS serial numbers found on red labels; MOON RECORDS matrix numbers found on Side A and Side B (with SRM 1-1011 also found on Side B); also, no mention of Donna Halper/WMMS/etc. on back cover!

Many believe that MERCURY CANADA simply reused old MOON covers and re-ran them through the printing press, adding the MERCURY information and blocking out the MN 100 on both the front cover and spine.

As a bonus, another "curiosity copy" of this same exact MERCURY CANADA first-issue is included as well; but what makes the second "bonus copy" interesting is that one can see on the front cover (lower right corner) and spine (far right) the barely discernable MN 100 just under the now-fading black ink blockouts!  Also, although a little worn away from edge wear, MOON RECORDS can also be discerned on the spine.  If anyone has an original much more common copy of the MOON LP, you can see that MOON RECORDS MN 100 is printed on the spine and MN 100 is printed on the front cover (lower right corner).

  • LP One:  Vinyl is visually VG++ (some hairlines and light paper scuffing/marks); labels are VG+ to VG++; cover is VG...maybe VG+ (cover/edge wear including edge crunch); see attached photo for image of front cover and red label along with complimentary black generic cover!; LP professionally cleaned by VPI cleaner!
  • LP Two (Bonus Curiosity Copy):  Vinyl is FAIR (lots of scratches/scuffs); labels are VG to VG+; cover is VG- (cover/edge wear with w.o.c.).
