CLAUDE FRANCOIS

EL TELEFONO LLORA (Le Telephone Pleure) (French Version) b/w EL TELEFONO LLORA (Spanish Version) / 1975

Up for sale TOP RARE Uruguayan mispressing with EMI labels of the El Telefono Llora 33 rpm 7" single originally released on Clave.

What we have here is a true rarity!!

I’ve got  this odd item from a man that used to work at one of the Uruguay vinyl pressing plants. According to his own words, by the time they received the order to prepare the gear to work on  this Francois’s SP on Clave, they were working on some EMI stuff, so they made a mistake and this single ended up with a bare Emi label instead of the proper Clave that should had fit on it. He could not confirm how many of these were made, he just said they were all discarded except this one he kept for himself and which is now offered on sale. So this is the ONLY existing copy featuring this weird variation which is just a hybrid coming from a mistake.

Matrix numbers on dead groove are: 81128A & 81128B

As can be seen on pictures, label on A side is intact while the B side one shows considerable noticeable wear as well as a sticker and the name of the artist and track handwritten (Claude Francois en Castellano). The item was badly stored all through these years, as a matter of fact I found it at the bottom of a box full of singles and this one was partially stuck to another one, probably due to humidity effects. Though I did my best to take the singles off carefully, I could not avoid to increase the damage humidity & time had caused already.

Just a funny thing about all this is that I did not realize it was what it is until I could separate the singles and found out the name of the artist written on the damaged side. Not in my wildest dreams I could have figured out that behind this bold EMI label could be a Clave single……

Very, very odd, very, very rare, and it is indeed the only surviving copy of such a  BIG mistake made at a pressing plant. Clo-Clo hardcore collectors & completists can rest assure that this is a unique chance to get a unique item for their collections.

Disc is in EX condition with some lite storage sleeve scuffs, plays fine with some mild background surface noise and comes in a white plain sleeve.

DON'T MISS THE CHANCE TO ADD THIS VERY RARE ITEM TO YOUR COLLECTION!!
