Description

Up for auction is a  rare Elvis triple EP. 

This EP was just uncovered, and had been owned and put away 55 years ago by a high level RCA employee. 

 

It was stored carefully in an old RCA 45 outer box.

 

It has MINT vinyl 45s that appear never played. 

 

There are only two flaws:  The EP cover has storage wear on the top edge, and it is missing the middle (2nd) record.  My guess is that these were pulled early in production as samples in 1956, and they did not have the middle record produced yet. 

 

The EP cover is gorgeous.  Bright colors.  No stains on the exterior or interior.  When I pulled it from the box I almost fell over!  I gently opened the middle to capture photos of them, but the spine is so crisp and solid, it had never been opened!  When I gently pulled the records out for the first time, it was obvious they had never been played. 

 

 

 

 

These promotional triple SPD-23 eps were only given to customers who bought a RCA VICTOR Victrola record player back in ’56. The SPD-23 records pop up on ebay from time to time. But, it’s this SPD-23 ep cardboard cover that is really rare, they just didn’t survive.
