Description
Up for auction is a unique recording of music by noted film composer Robert Ragland. This 12-inch LP features a label from the United Recording corporation, located on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. The disc looks to be a sample of Ragland's compositions including music for the score of Living Things Are Everywhere, a film that was apparently never made and/or completed, and a NBC special, What is Christmas Really Like? which was aired under another name or not at all.
On side two are pieces by other composers that were arranged by Ragland, as well as Ragland compositions for a movie, Wind Boy (apparently never made), and a symphonic piece, titled Battle of Nashville. There is nothing on the label to indicate the date of this recording. The disc is in its original plain brown paper sleeve, which shows its age. Condition of the record is good, with surface wear. Included in the auction is a tattered, typed letter from a programming director at radio station WNBQ, an NBC affiliate in Chicago Illinois. It is a letter of recommendation for Ragland dated August 12, 1963.
Robert Ragland (1931 - 2012) began composing for films in 1969. He wrote over fifty films scores including such titles as Grizzly, Abby and Return to Macon County.
