Up for auction is this rare, 1949 SIGNED LIMITED EDITION THE JAZZ SCENE RECORD SET. Numbered 1445 of 5000 copies. Autographed on the Title Page by Norman Granz who produced and hand-numbered this limited edition folio. This six-record set comes in a black, cloth-covered boards folio with gold imprinting on front cover. 12½" x 14¾" folio covers have some fading due to light as well as very light wear to cloth surface. The records are 12-inch "vinyl" with one musical piece on each side (12 compositions). Records have "Mercury Records" labels. The records need cleaning -- there is dust and lint on the surfaces. I've played each side of the records on an older record player and there are occasionally "pops" and "sisssssssing" sounds -- no skipping. Some light sleeve burns and a few scratches on disk surfaces. The set also includes 29 stunning black/white photographs on 12" x 12.5" formatted, heavy stock paper of the jazz greats of the period. All photographs but two are by the renowned photographer Gjon Mili. Loose leaf pages and record sleeves mounted in a heavy medal 24-ring binder folio. Certainly not a "mint condition" collection, but I would consider the records, photographs and covers in good to very good used condition. A small card that was inside the folio is missing.
