Description

We found this very rare promo record in a closet at a small town radio station on one of our record shopping trips nearly 30 years ago. We bought it with some other movie spot promo records that the radio station owner wanted to sell. Since then, the record has been stored in a climate controlled home, and now we're ready to part with it.

In 1966, before the Beatles recorded their legendary Sgt. Pepper album, Paul McCartney did a solo project - without the other Beatles - where he created, with George Martin, the music score for the movie called “The Family Way," starring Hailey Mills.

While the 1967 movie soundtrack is not hard to find, THIS record is. These are the original radio spots that promote the movie that McCartney wrote the music for and it’s in good shape.

This is an original record on the pink Warner Brothers label. The movie studio sent a limited number of spot records to radio stations in towns where the movie was playing. Movie promo records were usually thrown away after they were dubbed to tape for playback on the air. Some survived and many did not.

This record comes in a plain paper sleeve and grades near mint-minus for the labels and VG+ for the vinyl. There are numerous light scratches and a few scuffs on the record.  However, the vinyl still has a lot of shine and sounds very loud and clear with minimal with an occasional pop or tick in the background. There are eleven radio spots of differing lengths, with many including McCartney's theme song in the background on this two-sided 10-inch disc – truly a rarity. Don’t let this one get away.
