Red Onion Jazz Babies on Gennett 5627

Tracks: "Cake Walking Babies From Home/Of All The Wrongs You've Done To Me"

Recorded December of 1924

Happy Holidays everyone! Up for sale is a great holiday gift for that special collector friend, or just a great way to treat yourself. A beautiful, very rare copy of the legendary Cake Walking Babies From Home. This classic Louis Armstrong/Sidney Bechet jazz battle was fueled by their earlier pairings on tracks such as Texas Moaner Blues, etc. But the two versions of this particular song, recorded only within 3 weeks of each other for Okeh and Gennet, is where their rivalry comes to a point on record. A great record that needs no introduction.

Condition: Cake Walking Babies is a strong E-!. Plays EE- for the most part, but this side has one noisy (NOT rough!) groove at the very end of the vocals, right before the part where Louis and Bechet go at it. The "Of All The Wrongs" side is a solid E. There is a tiny rim chip pictured that is on both sides and does not affect play. I have never played any of my records with an equalizer, but I would imagine they would sound noticeably better if I did. Priced accordingly.

Grading: I grade carefully and conservatively. Check my feedback.

Payment: PAYPAL only! within 5 days of auction end please.
