Description
This is the 16th album of 19 autographed albums which I obtained from an estate. The albums spanned from the late 1960's to the early 1980's. No reserve as always. This is The Rolling Stones "Some Girls" album from 1978. It has a low, $9.99 opening bid, which less than just the album alone is worth to collectors.
This is the "banned" original album. According to Wikipedia,
"The album cover for Some Girls was designed by Peter Corriston, who would design the next three album covers as well. An elaborate die-cut design, with colors varying on different sleeves, it featured The Rolling Stones and select female celebrities in garish drag, as well as a bunch of lingerie ads. The cover immediately ran into trouble when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (representing her mother Judy Garland), Raquel Welch, and the estate of Marilyn Monroe threatened legal action. It was withdrawn and women's likenesses removed. Jagger later apologized to Minnelli when he encountered her during a party at the infamous discotheque Studio 54.
The revised cover removed all the celebrities whether they had complained or not. And were replaced with black and punk style garish colors with the phrase PARDON OUR APPEARANCE COVER UNDER CONSTRUCTION."
This album has what looks like the signature's of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood in a "Sharpie" type permanent marker. The album cover itself is in excellent condition and only has the very slightest wear from storage. The record itself is in excellent shape, I don't see any scratches on there. There might be some minor ones, but I don't see them. I have not played it to check, but the record looks like it were never played. The inner sleeve is also in great shape. As a bonus, I will put the record in a protective Mylar sleeve to protect it and also put album inside a plastic cover for shipping.
I am not a classic album or autograph collector, so my above description is an honest assessment based only on research since obtaining this album and 18 other autographed rock albums, a few posters and a Fender guitar from the estate. There is not a Certificate of Authenticity as I am not a record or autograph collector. I am not an expert in this field, however serious album and autograph collectors will know what they are looking at here. I have included clear close-ups so you can study them. The album is sold as is, so no returns please. Included is the maximum amount of photos eBay allows (12 photos), but if you need more drop me a line.
