THE ROLLING STONES - 'No.2'
This EXCELLENT UK MONO pressing their second album dates from mid-1965.
It is on is on the deep-groove unboxed red & silver Decca label: LK 4661
Matrix numbers: XARL 6619-1A & XARL 6620-1A
Stamper codes: 1/HG & 2,B/I
Vinyl weight: 154g
Housed within front laminated 'James Upton' (uncredited) mono cover with a pasted-over rear panel. The paste-over panel is was in order to hide the original sleeve note which was deemed offensive due to the following lines: "...If you don't have bread, see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!...".
The original back cover is slightly visible under the paste over paper sheet. The James Upton name as the cover manufacturer was not mentioned but only "Printed in England" in the lower left corner.
Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

A clean & vibrant set with just a touch of wear to the centre holes but no other signs of wear.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain all of their deep-gloss shine. There are light turntable 'ring' marks on both sides along with a visible but non-feelable scuff on side 2, the majority of which is in the run-out area. Closer examination directly beneath my unforgiving desk lamp reveals little more than a few inner-sleeve removal marks and a rainbow shine. Both sides of this treasured copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
This copy has received a number of careful plays but is without any significant deterioration to the sound quality. My single careful play-check at volume detected a touch of low-level background crackle between tracks and during some of the quieter passages but no other audible distractions or faults.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A respectable example of this scarce 'transitional' cover bears light handling & storagewear but no major faults.
The front panel is clean & unfaded with just a handful of 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the opening edge and slight storage rubbing but no heavy creasing or wear. The corners are all in good, unbumped shape and there no damage along either opening edge. The rear panel is clean overall with some small handling/age related blemishes but no writing or missing paper.
Both seams & the spine are smooth, unstressed and undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & undamaged with some light storage wrinkles but no writing, seam splits or tears.
