This is one of 4 original jazz LPs I am listing that date from the late 50s to the early 60s.There are 2 from the Esquire label, a Blue Note and one from Riverside. All 4 of them are well known classic albums and, to the best of my belief, all are original first pressings in the UK. I have owned them since new and now have them on CD reissues -for better or maybe for worse! I am assuming if you're reading this you are not into 'Take That' compilations nor the latest 'One Direction' album - you will know all about jazz from the very top era of jazz in the 20th century.

I am aware that some jazz vinyl enthusiasts will buy duplicate copies of favourite records in the hope that either the vinyl of the newer copy will be better or maybe they are looking for a better cover. Accordingly I have gone to some trouble to photograph the covers - front and back - and shall endeavour to describe their conditions as accurately as possible.

I have no idea why I bought this record all those years ago, but it has remained a favourite jazz piano trio recording ever since. Although Roy Haynes is the titular elder statesman here the record belongs to the remarkable young pianist Phineas Newborn. Now, do you like thick, heavy vinyl? Well, these Esquires were manufactured from a massive 246 gm vinyl compared to, say, the 180 gm of modern reissues. There is some surface noise on some of the tracks here but no loud clicks or pops. The front of the cover is clean although the outline of the disc is obvious. Similar for the back - this is no doubt due to the unusual weight of the vinyl. I don't think the inner cover is the original. Any questions please ask now rather than later!
