2nd studio album Sy Oliver: Arranger/Conductor Signed on back: "To Bernie All My Best Your Boy Sammy Jr" "Bernie" was Bernie Abramson, a native of Los Angeles, served in the U.S. Navy as an aerial cameraman during World War II. He shot the first images of the Japanese fleet at the island of Palau, and his aerial photos resulted in the sinking of more than fifty ships and the destruction of one hundred and fifty aircraft, for which he received numerous decorations. His plane was shot down in 1945 and he spent two and a half days in the water before being rescued by the USS Bowers. After his recovery and discharge, he pursued a photographic career back home, operating a photo lab on Fairfax Ave. One fortunate day, a woman entered the store in error, seeking to have some photographic work done by a competing store. Abramson took the job and wound up working regularly for the customer, who, it turned out, was an important Hollywood publicist. That same woman later hired Abramson to take some shots when her usual photographer was indisposed, and soon Abramson was doing as much shooting as he was developing. Among his customers was Sammy Davis Jr., who hired him to photograph some private parties. Soon afterward, Frank Sinatra asked Sammy who took his photos; Sammy answered, “Bernie Abramson,” and Frank asked, “Can you trust him?” When Sammy said, “Yes,” Frank began regularly hiring Bernie as his own personal photographer for family events, parties and so forth. (“You never had to discuss money with Frank,” Abramson recalled. “He was beyond generous.”) After several years of working for Frank, Abramson was recommended to John Kennedy, who had him shoot various family events in the White House. After Kennedy was murdered, his brother Robert commissioned Abramson to compile a family album for the Kennedy Presidential Library. Abramson continued to work closely with a number of Hollywood stars, including Kirk Douglas and John Wayne. Among the film productions on which he worked as a photographer were “Some Like It Hot” (1959), “The Alamo” (1960), “Ocean’s Eleven” (1960), “West Side Story” (1961), “Cleopatra” (1964), “The Wild Bunch” (1969) and “Dirty Harry” (1971). He also did some sports photography and went on to serve as cinematographer for such films as “Up the Sandbox” (1972) and “Mikey and Nicky” (1976). Biography by Shawn Levy, taken from The Rat Pack.]

RECORD & COVER GRADES NEAR MINT (NM) ~ Looks brand new. Vinyl looks like it may never have been played, with perhaps some faint superficial marks or paper scratches but nothing that would affect play. Labels/Spindleholes have few, if any, spindle marks, or marks from handling. Covers are pristine and usually still in the original shrinkwrap.
Excellent (EX) ~ Is almost perfect but has some slight flaws. Vinyl may have some very light scratches/blemishes/scuffs which are superficial and should not affect the quality of the sound very much. There may be some surface noise but it shouldn't distract from the music. Covers may have very light ring wear/cornerwear/seamwear, light writing/discoloration and/or small stickers/punch holes/saw-cuts/creases. Labels may have light spindle marks/writing and/or small stickers.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) ~ Looks good but with some signs of use & wear. Vinyl will have noticeable light scuffs/scratches/wear but for the most part, it will only cause some light surface noise and/or spots of mild noise. Any scuffs and scratches will not be "feelable" and will not cause skips. There may be the slightest of "dish warps" but it will not be immediately noticeable & will not affect sound. Covers may have mild/moderate ring & shelf wear, small seam splits, some mild writing/creases/discoloration/stickers/punch holes/saw-cuts. Labels may have mild writing/names/stickers/spindle marks.
VERY GOOD (VG) ~ Shows definite wear and handling but the vinyl is playable and the cover is still together. Vinyl will have noticeable surface noise in areas with clicks and pops. There may be "feelable" scratches/scuffs which could cause skips. Cover has obvious ring and shelf wear, stickers, marks, staining, seam splits on any or all 3 sides, writing, cuts, and discoloration. Record Labels may have writing, names, stickers and will have spindle marks.
GOOD PLUS (G+) ~ Only a rare or special record will be listed with this grade.
