THE BEATLES: MY BONNIE/THE SAINTS (Polydor #24-673 German pressing, 1962): CLEAN VG+/M- 45 plays M- w/company sleeve.                        

The FIRST recording by THE BEATLES (billed as "The Beat Brothers") issued anywhere in the world.  This is the German pressing for export to the UK, from 1962.  It's a CLEAN VG+/M- 45 that plays M- with "Twist" label print & the intro in English.  The correct German Polydor company sleeve is included.  Unconditionally guaranteed NOT to be a fake or repro!

Polydor had modest expectations in 1961 when they issued this recording in Germany, but it was a hit due to Tony Sheridan's popularity there. Then they released it in the UK (the 1962 pressing offered in this listing). The Beatles were the first Liverpool rock band to appear on ANY record & Polydor probably figured they'd sell a few in "The 'Pool".

In 1961 the 5 Beatles (John, Paul, George, Pete Best & Stu Sutcliffe) returned to Liverpool from Hamburg with ONE copy of their only record, so they had to take turns possessing the precious slab. Although thrilled with My Bonnie at the time, the Fabs were more critical after they conquered the world in 1964. During Beatlemania John Lennon gave this terse assessment of their 1961 recording of My Bonnie: "Terrible!".
