SERGE CHALOFF – BLUE SERGE – CAPITOL T 742 – M-/EX - WITH SONNY CLARK - MONO
Recorded on March 14 & 16, 1956, this Capitol session features Serge Chaloff on baritone, Sonny Clark on piano, Leroy Vinnegar on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums. SIDE 1: A HANDFUL OF STARS; THE GOOF AND I; THANKS FOR THE MEMORY and ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE. SIDE 2: I’VE GOT THE WORLD ON A STRING; SUSIE’S BLUES and STAIRWAY TO THE STARS. This LP has the original green label and comes in its original sleeve. This is a MONO recording.
I gave graded this LP as M- and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl on both sides of the LP is clear of any marks. There are a few marks around the spindle hole, but no sign of wear. The record jacket is in good to excellent condition, except that the top and bottom seams are taped. The tape appears to be old cellophane tape, so it has been on it for a long time. Other than that, the record jacket is in excellent condition, with no real sign of wear on the cover or the liner notes. The spine is clean as well.
