Description
Up for auction is the splitted LP between the
SEVERED HEADS
and the
RHYTHMYX CHYMX
called
EAR BITTEN
and
NO VOWELS NO BOWELS
description
It was a split release with the Rhythmyx Chymx, that were an off-shoot of the Slugfuckers minus their lead vocalist plus other friends. For recording
Severed Heads were assissted by Neil Hill of SPK. It was pressed in an edition of 400 copies only (although it is rumoured not all of these existing because
the ready-for-distribution records were partly destroyed in a fire in the house they were stored, but this is unconfirmed!). It comes in spray painted front cover
(Severd Heads side - title inspired by a headline of the local sport news, that a footballer had bitten another's ear, what explained the music well enough), whilst
each back cover of the Rhythmyx Chymx side is different because they wanted to make every copy a distinctive sleeve (rumours are some were painted with shit
and semen). The offered copy features a portrait of former Sidney's rock journo Stuart Coupe in the artwork, who was loathed at the timefor his pedestrian
tastes and values. A massive bunch of xeroxed inserts is included here as well!
"Weird shit recorded badly in 1979" is Tom Ellards review looking back on it as an electronic genius after decades since it's first release way back in 1980, but
would you agree, if I say it's one of the milestones in Australia's history of underground music and one of the most collectable records of the Post Punk/Early Industrial area?
Don't let this go, it's a unique chance to acquire a very scarce vinyl, that pops up only once in years.
It was tough to find even when it came out, especially outside of Australia and became very quickly
a collector's. As far as I know it's the only copy offered worldwide!
Low starting, no reserve!
Highly recommended!

condition
Not an easy job to grade such a 31-years-old delicate home- and handmade cover,
it's a bit darkened and yellowed (pics doesn't reproduce it 100%) and has spots here
and there, but there are no splits, bends or tears, I would give a very good +
The record itself I would grade unfortunately only good + all in all, while the
Severed Heads side is clean and strong very good +, the Rhythmyx Chymx side is only
good, because it has surface marks and a long scratch from the middle of track 2 (see pic)
that is partly listenable but not in all tracks (mainly from the 2nd to the 5th),
but it plays through well.
Inserts are mint!
