Condition : cover shows especially in front a well-visible ring wear and some traces of overall attrition, without however writing, tears, stains, seam split and other major flaws, VG+ / vinyl with a few minor scuffs and/or cosmetic rubs which do not affect listening with the exception of very few slight clicks, EX+ 

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : album Australiano estremamente raro perchè stampato nel 1975 da un'etichetta privata in pochissime copie destinate esclusivamente agli addetti ai lavori. É stato ristampato quest'anno dalla canadese Strawberry Rain (SR013) sia in vinile che in cd. L'intera colonna sonora è attraversata da belle sonorità folk-rock anche con ottime connotazioni psichedeliche in alcuni brani. Il merito va a Simon Jones qui nella duplice veste di compositore di tutti i brani e di splendido chitarrista. Una menzione particolare alla cantante Sue South: l'ampio raggio delle sue tonalità è utilizzato più come strumento musicale da affiancare agli altri musicisti. Comunque attenzione, non vorrei essere frainteso, la sua voce mai s'esprime con vocalizzi senza parole ma sempre con un cantato che segue i testi di Simon Jones. Invero il compositore adopera il canto come parte complementare di un brano e mai come canzone in senso stretto. Chitarra elettrica ed acustica in combinazione a basso, organo, piano elettrico e batteria riescono perfettamente a trasformare in musica la concezione folk-rock di Simon Jones. Indubbiamente ci sono nei brani alcuni richiami più o meno evidenti al rock Americano degli ultimi anni sessanta, in particolare ai Byrds, ai Doors e ai Jefferson Airplanes così come ai Britannici Fairport Convention, Fotheringay e Jethro Tull senza comunque mai cadere nell'imitazione o ancor peggio nel plagio. Sebbene generalmente considerato come album dal grande impatto psichedelico, ritengo che questa affermazione sia eccessiva: indubbiamente vi sono passaggi dove le improvvisazioni dell'organo, chitarra distorta e piano elettrico riflettono efficacemente questa concezione musicale, ma, a mio modestissimo avviso, i sette brani di lunga durata di questo LP sono fondamentalmente basati su grande musica folk-rock. Fra le tracce sottolineo "Nine to Five" (a2) dal ritmo molto vivace con basso, chitarra elettrica, organo e piano elettrico impegnati in una trascinante esecuzione con Simon Jones nelle vesti anche di cantante. "You by Me" (a3) che vede la partecipazione della bravissima cantante, virtuosismi di chitarra acustica ed elettrica e buona presenza della batteria. "Welcome" (a1) dove il flauto dolce accanto alla chitarra acustica ed elettrica e canto femminile mostra l'aspetto più raffinato del folk-rock presente nell’album. Infine "Goodbye" (b2) con la chitarra elettrica a tratti dalle sonorità blueseggianti che irrompe sul cantato di Sue South dando vita ad un interessante e godibile duello musicale. Forse il brano più rock dell’album.

Notes : an Australian album of extreme rarity because printed in 1975 by a private label in very few copies intended exclusively to insiders. It was reissued in this year by the canadian Strawberry Rain (SR013) in both LP and CD formats. All the soundtrack is characterized by beautiful folk-rock sound with excellent psychedelic overtones on some tracks. The credit goes to Simon Jones here both as a composer of all songs and wonderful guitarist. A special mention to the singer Sue South: the vast range of her tones is used more as a musical instrument alongside the other musicians. However beware not get me wrong, her voice never is expressed with wordless vocalizations but always with a singing that follows the lyrics of Simon Jones. Indeed, the composer uses the song as a complementary part of a piece and ever as an end in itself. Electric and acoustic guitar in combination with bass, organ, electric piano and drums perfectly succeed to transform in music the folk-rock concept of Simon Jones. Undoubtedly in the tracks there are more or less obvious references to the American rock of the last sixty years, in particular to the Byrds, The Doors and Jefferson Airplane as well as to the British Fairport Convention, Fotheringay and Jethro Tull without ever falling into imitation or even worse in plagiarism. Although generally regarded as an album by the great psychedelic impact, I believe that this statement is excessive, no doubt there are passages where the improvisations of the organ, distorted guitar and electric piano effectively reflect this musical kind, but, in my humble opinion, the seven tracks from the long duration of this LP are fundamentally based on great folk-rock music. Some mentions: "Nine to Five" (a2) from the very lively rhythm with bass, electric guitar, organ and electric piano engaged in a rousing performance with Simon Jones in the role of singer as well. "You by Me" (a3) with the participation of the talented singer, virtuosities of acoustic and electric guitar and good presence of the drums. "Welcome" (a1) where the recorder alongside acoustic and electric guitar and female singing shows the most refined side of the folk-rock in the album. Finally, "Goodbye" (b2) with electric guitar at times from the bluesy sonorities which breaks the singing by Sue South creating an interesting and enjoyable musical duel. Perhaps the track with more rock features in the album.
