Description
I am excited to be offering an exceptional copy of this quintessential, highly sought after and historical 78 rpm disc. This is the 1937, Hollywood recording of Louis Prima's Sing Sing Sing, by the one and only Benny Goodman and His Orchestra, made approximately 1 year before the legendary Carnegie Hall recording of the same tune. Goodman always included this in his performances as a real show stopper. It was an innovation for jazz and big band music, as it broke the boundaries of the 78 format, deviating greatly from the traditional 3 minute format so widely conformed to at the time. The performance goes far over the 8 minute mark spanning both sides of a 12 inch sized disc. These records are 9 times out of 10 found worn, as this was a well enjoyed record for many swingsters of the silent generation who grew up on this stuff. Further yet, 12 inches are markedly more prone to breakage than their 10 inch counterparts. So finding a copy of this fine recording in wonderful condition and without any cracks such as the one I am offering here is certainly special! In the pictures you will notice some splotches of grime that will need to be cleaned, but aside from this you can see in the photos the grooves are shiny and show little if any wear. Don't miss out on this spectacular piece of history! FAIR OFFERS ALWAYS CONSIDERED. Please feel free to message me with a question as I will get back to you promptly.
