Description
HERE ARE SIX of those curious RCA-Victor pre-grooved home recording discs, introduced in 1931, for making your own records with the new RE-57 Electrola. These are from 1937 and '38, taken directly off the air, of some VERY popular singers: NELSON EDDY, LILY PONS, JEANETTE MacDONALD, LANNY ROSS and GLADYS SWARTHOUT.
For all I know, these records are UNIQUE, possibly the only versions we have of these performances. MOST fortunately, the original recordist made meticulous label notes (in fountain pen) as to the artist, selection and date, though not the program or station. I suppose a little sleuthing could reveal that information.

Lily Pons "Villanelle" (April 4, 1937) / Lily Pons "Jockey on the Carousel" (April 4, 1937)
Jeanette MacDonald "Frasquita Serenade" (October 17, 1937) / Nelson Eddy "Largo" (Handel) (October 3, 1937)
These are ten-inch Vitrolac records, pre-grooved, to be "carved" by the user. You would need to use a 5- or 6- mil stylus, and some creative equalization, to get the best sound out of them. They are nominally in E condition - hardly any signs of use or wear.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
