AN EX- COPY OF THIS MEGA RARE 1959 UK RELEASE OF THE SKYLINERS ALL TIME CLASSIC US DOO-WOP HIT "SINCE I DONT HAVE YOU"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngZh6ZSRoYg
The Skyliners are an American doo wop group from Pittsburgh fronted by Jimmy Beaumont. The original lineup included Wally Lester, Jack Taylor, Joe Verscharen, and Janet Vogel. While this quintet constituted the formal group of vocalists, they were backed by a variety of Pittsburgh musicians including Joe Dalu, a drummer from Pittsburgh's Manchester neighborhood who also played with local favorites Ray and The Furys (COED Label, 1959). The Skyliners were best known for their 1959 hit "Since I Don't Have You." Released in early 1959, the single reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also the top five of the R&B chart. The song, highlighted by a powerful vocal by lead singer Jimmy Beaumont, and a falsetto on the final chorus by Janet Vogel, is considered by oldies fans to be one of the best "heartbreak" ballads ever recorded, and a classic of pre-Beatles rock and roll, and is still frequently played on the radio. The song was featured in the films American Graffiti, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Lethal Weapon 2, and Mischief.
This song was covered by the hard rock band Guns N' Roses on their album, "The Spaghetti Incident?". This was Guns N' Roses seventh single release overall, and the third single lifted from "The Spaghetti Incident?". The single was released in mid-1994 and reached #69 on the Hot 100.
Other remakes of the song to chart since the original have included renditions by Chuck Jackson (1964), The Vogues (1970), Lenny Welch (1973), Barbra Streisand (1974), Patti LaBelle (1977), Art Garfunkel (1979), Don McLean (1981), Ronnie Milsap (1991), and The Brian Setzer Orchestra (1998).
They also hit the Top 40 with "This I Swear" and "Pennies From Heaven." Other Skyliners classics include "It Happened Today"(1959), "Close Your Eyes" (1961), and "Comes Love" (1962). The original group dissolved in 1963 but reunited 11 years later (without Jack Taylor) for what would become their last charted record, "Where Have They Gone." If there are no bids on the item with 4 days to go, I will gradually INCREASE the starting bid price to a price I would be happy with in auction. If it still receives no bids – I will put into my ebaY shop at something nearer "book" price.
IN SHORT IT WILL PAY TO BID EARLY!!
