Helene Smith is known by the great title of the First Lady of Miami Soul. Now some of her best work which testifies to that term is served up on this fine album via the faultless Numero Group. The record comes with 12 deeply soulful hits from an alternate universe that are all superbly warm and heavy on the beautiful and love-struck teenage melancholy that melts your heart. Her great vocals come with backing from the FAMU Marching 100 Band and Frank Williams' The Rocketeers. The tunes that make this album comes from Smith's work in the sixties with labels such as the Deep City, Lloyd, Reid, and Blue Star. This is an all black wax copy but a silver version is also available on site.
