By those who know, Helene Smith is often referred to as the First Lady of Miami Soul. For proof just tune into this album on the faultless Numero Group label which features 12 deeply soulful hits from an alternate universe. The sweltering sounds are doused in beautiful and love-struck teenage melancholy with backing from the FAMU Marching 100 Band and Frank Williams' The Rocketeers. They are taken from her work in the sixties with the Deep City, Lloyd, Reid, and Blue Star labels and come on limited metallic silver vinyl to make it an extra special piece.
