This Auction is for The Lp - Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique Op.14 - L'orchestre de la suisse romande - Ernest Ansermet.
1968 Stereo Pressing on the Decca Records Label - SXL 6343.
Matrix No's - ZAL 8144 - 1W & ZAL 8145 - 2W.
Vinyl - Ex- - The record looks as though it has been little played, The surface still has a lovely sheen.
It plays with a lovely Deep Rich Stereo sound, there are quite a lot of light static ticks/clicks heard in places and these are more noticeable in the quieter passages of the music, I find this is very common on pressings of this age even where the playing surfaces are still in as excellent a condition as this one and it detracts very little from the excellent sound and enjoyment of the record.
I have collected and played records for over 30 years and having played many hundreds of these early classical records, I can honestly say in all that time I have only ever found 1 or 2 to play absolutely 100% perfect throughout, in my experience static ticks and crackle seem very common on these older pressings.
Sleeve - VG+ - Provided in the Original Sleeve as pictured which has some age related wear, slight ring wear to sleeve front and also some slight discolouration on the rear although nothing major as can be seen in the pics.
Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc...

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
