John Carter-Bobby Bradford New Art Jazz Ensemble Seeking (Revelation 9)
Carter (cl, as, ts, fl) and Bradford (tpt) with Tom Williamson (b) and Bruz Freeman (d).Recorded live at Occidental college, Los Angeles, 16 january 1969.
The emergence of this ensemble in the mid-to-late sixties gave LA its first, locally grown avant-garde-jazz band. It allowed the west coast's scene to stand alongside that of Chicago and New York.
But both Carter and Bradford owed much of their musical origins to Texas - Carter born in Fort Worth; Bradford moving to Dallas as a child - where they were under the powerful influence of Ornette Coleman.
While the multi-reed virtuoso and master trumpeter made a number of records displaying their challenging compositions and daring improvisations, this was their first.
Condition: NM. No marks; record is clean, virtually no wear. Plays like new. In its original paper sleeve.
LP cover photo and text are fine; upper left corner bent. That corner's seam has a half-inch split. Three tiny splits/nicks down the spine. Upper right corner a lesser bend. Rest of cover very good, with spine text, back-cover text, and smaller photos fine. No ringwear. For fifty-year-old LP, condition is very good.
I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector. Copies of same issue are selling elsewhere on the internet for $50.

Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination and shipping method he chooses; I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)
Insurance is mandatory.

**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express has tracking. If you want a different shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction.
Packing: The LP will be carefully wrapped, then placed in a standard, cardboard LP box. Please indicate any special instructions.
Payment: I accept Paypal. I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.
Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

NM A record known or assumed to have been played. May have a surface scuff mark but only from removing and reinserting record in sleeve. May have slight spindle wear. Otherwise, appears same as N in all respects.
VG++ More handling marks visible than on N-, but should play like a new record.
VG+ No more than a few minor scratches or marks which are audible. Such scratches or other defects will usually be described in specific detail. Record will usually not have any groove wear.
