Description

This Brooklyn New York band are often credited with being one of the first heavy metal bands. I personally disagree and can name several others before them. But I will admit, they were early pioneers of the genre. Sure, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were already well known when this album came out, but most hard rock bands were blues based. This is Sir Lord Baltimore's debut album. The self-titled LP came after this. They had a tough career. Since the lead singer was also the drummer they had a tough time pulling it off live and were even known to have been boo'd off the stage. This made it hard to sell records. By their 2nd LP, a 4th member was added, the lead guitarist's brother, to cover vocals. This was a mistake. Because John Garners vocals made the band. He just had a hard time playing drums while screeming vocals. The 2nd LP also took on religious overtones and was much more lightweight. Thus, Sir Lord Baltimore fell into obscurity, only to be rediscovered decades later. This might shed light on why most of their albums are cut-outs. Try finding one that isn't.
Kingdom Come is a killer album and belongs in every rock collection. It features an overdosed of heavy guitar with slick leads, super bass with quirky bits, hyperactive drumming and Garners superb rock vocals. From track 1. Master Heartache' you are convinced. After 3 heavy tracks 'Lake Isle Of Innersfree' introduces the concept of a 'rock ballad, complete with Harpsicord. Then it's back to driving rock. As for firsts, I see the last track 'Helium Head' as the first 'grunge rock' recording. You will never see this album go out unsold, even in debatable condition. This one is quite nice, a keeper.

Mercury Records - SR-61328 - US pressing - 1970 - The disk has no scratches, no micro sleeve lines. The only thing to report is some light paper impressions from the crinkled original dust sleeve. I will leave polishing to the buyer to make a NM record. I have moved the disk to a nice sleeve but I'll send the original as evidence. The cover is nicer than most I have seen. There is not much to report beyond light shelfwear. It has been punched as most have, but this one has healed itself. It would not be noticed if I didn't mention it. In fact, I did not know it until I saw a small hole in the dust sleeve. Even then, I had to search for it. This is a nice, rare to find in this condition. The labels are perfect and the spindle hole is tight.

I ship records properly, 'disk out of cover' in a 2 ml poly sleeve and sent in a cardboard LP mailer. Questions are welcomed. Bid with confidence.
