The Smiths - William, It Was Really Nothing
This is the infamous Italian 12'' vinyl edition on Virgin with catalogue number VINX 71.
As most of you watching this auction will know this particular release has been withdrawn straight after its release. According to the magazine Record Collector only about 100 copies made it into the hand of fans.
The reason why it was withdrawn and what makes it so special is that on the B-Side a totally different version of How Soon Is Now can be heard. The wrong masters were used for this pressing and we get to hear a studio outtake version in fantastically mastered quality. The track has additional vocal harmonies by Morrissey and at the end Morrissey asks OK? Before the music starts fading in again.
With this record you get an idea of how it must have been being in the studio with the boys! A true gem and real pleasure to own because this is so unique.
Listed at number 9 in the Record Collector´s List of Top 100 Smiths rarities, this is the rarest officially released record in the list. Number 1 – 8 are either test pressings or promos that were never officially available.
The overall condition of this one is great!
The sleeve is still in its shrink. However, the Italian sleeves were quite thin cardboard paper back then and the records were store in them without inner sleeves. So through the shrink you can see a bit of ringwear.
I´ve owned this from new, the A-side is unplayed and the B-side has been played exactly two times.
I´m quite sure you will not find a better copy than this!

On public demand here´s a more detailed description of the vinyl. There are a few unavoidable surface marks that were there from the very beginning and can as you know often be seen on records that originally come without inner sleeves. However, I kept this in an antistatic inner sleeve since it has been opened. It plays flawless like it came just out of the shops.
