Description
In 1951 Stanley Motta built a small recording studio at 93 Hanover Street, Kingston (just around the corner from his shop on Harbour Street). The music was cut directly onto acetate lacquers and (as there were no manufacturing facilities on the island) the lacquers were then sent to the UK for mastering and pressing by Decca Records in London. The finished 10” shellac 78rpm records where then shipped back to Jamaica.
The Motta's Recording Studio ‘MRS’ label is now recognised as the very first Jamaican record label, selling 10” shellac records created by Jamaicans in Jamaica for a Jamaican audience (https://bigmikeydread.wordpress.com/2010/10/12/the-first-commercial-record-produced-and-sold-in-jamaica/)
To find an original 10” Shellac 'MRS' pressing has to be Exceedingly Rare. This recording by Joseph Clemendore (Cobra Man) with on the A side George Moxey and his Calypso Quintet and on the B side with Ganny Gabbison and his Calypso Band is not even listed, let alone for sale, in the Discogs catalogue for the Motta’s Recording Studio (https://www.discogs.com/label/303848-Mottas-Recording-Studio). With a Serial No. of 27 a & b it is likely to be the 27th record produced by the Motta's Recording Studio 'MRS' label, placing it in the very early 1950’s and making it exceedingly rare. A must for any collector interested in reggae, ska and Jamaican music history generally.

Packaging and Posting
Personal collection, from Headingley Leeds, is welcomed.
As a very fragile shellac record it will be very carefully protected and packaged. It will be double bubble wrapped and double boxed.
