Description
Sun Ra & His Solar Arkestra
"Art Forms of Dimensions Tomorrow"
used LP -- 1960s stereo pressing This is a copy of Sun Ra's "Art Forms of Dimensions Tomorrow" on vinyl. After considerable internet research, I am not sure if this is a first pressing or not. Most of the original copies I've seen seem to have a black & blue cover -- this one is all black on both the front and back sides. The back cover suggests that this is a mono copy, but the record indicates that it's actually a stereo issue. This does have a red Saturn label with silver writing. The label # and matrix # for side A is KH-98766. The label and matrix number for side B is CPLS 5421 F. Other matrix markings include: 404-A/404-B, "El Saturn" in cursive writing, "I GB", and the word "stereo". The back cover does list Saturn Records' address without a zip code.
Overall, this record is in pretty good shape. The cover shows a little bit of aging, but there are no seam splits and only slight wear on the corners. The large A on the front cover has some smudging (I'm guessing it happened right after the cover was printed.) Also, the owner of this record signed his name on the back cover towards the right edge. The record has a couple of minor surface scratches; however, I did a spot check on them (and most of the record) and didn't hear any popping or noise. I also cleaned this LP with a Nitty Gritty record cleaner, which helped quite a bit. I am grading both the cover and record as very good+ (VG+).
This record came with a plain white inner sleeve; I believe this is how it was originally packaged. I ship all records in sturdy cardboard mailers with extra padding.
Tracks include:
- Cluster of Galaxies
- Ankh
- Solar Drums
- The Outer Heavens
- Infinity of the Universe
- Lights on a Satellite
- Kosmos in Blue
