SYD BARRETT - 'THE MADCAP LAUGHS'
This fine & early UK 1st pressing of Syd's debut solo album albums dates from initial January 1970 release.

It is on the green EMI/Harvest label without the later added EMI logo: SHVL 765

Matrix numbers: SHVL 765 A-2G & SHVL 765 B-2G

Stamper codes: 1/G & 1/R

Vinyl weight: 136g

Housed in an outer-laminated 'Ernest J. Day' printed gatefold cover with original white inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT +

Bright & clean with two spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole and just one on side 1. There are a few small age-related blemishes to the paper on label 1.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Exceptionally clean & unworn playing surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss factory shine. Close examination reveal little more than a small number of harmless wispy paper hairlines beneath halogen light.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

This well looked-after, little played copy sounds clean & unworn throughout with no trace of crackle or groovewear distortion. My playcheck detected a hint of low-level vinyl background between tracks and in a few quiter passages, but no clicks, pops or any other distractions.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

A clean & strong example which retains its high-gloss laminate all round with a trace of storage but no 'thumbnail' wrinkles anywhere.

All corners are in good shape with minor shelfwear bruising but no heavy bumps or any damage to any opening edge.

Both panels inside the gatefold are immaculate.

Both seams and the fully worded spine are unstressed & unsplit.
