Further Information/Comments This very rare 45 was the only thing released by The Afex, before they reformed in recently. It has become a highly desirable 45 over the years and is regarded as a Mod/Freakbeat classic and is much sought after. This copy is probably the best you will find.   Background on the band The Afex were a very young band from Dagenham, Essex. They were formed whilst the members were still at school in 1964, by Dave Ryan (Lead vocals), Mick Holmes (Lead Guitar and vocals) and Ray Bryanton (Rhythm Guitar, Keyboards and vocals). Originally called the Spectres, they had to change their name when they discovered there was another band of the same name, and became The AFEX. Later that year they were joined by Colin Victory (Drums) and Ronnie Ebbs (Bass) and started playing school dances as a covers band.
In 1965 they started playing Soho Night Clubs (The ST MORITZ KEY CLUB in Wardour St, THE ALAPHABET CLUB in Gerrard St and LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES CLUB in Dean St) even though they still at school (chaperoned and sometimes finishing at 1am). They started to write their own songs around this time and recorded two originals written by Dave & Ray “Too Many Things” & “Moon Blues”, which were recorded onto an EMIDisc acetate at Studio 19 in Gerrard St, Soho. They then started playing in a number of larger venues supporting established acts. At the Roads Jazz Club in Bishop Stortford they supported the JOHN MAYALLS BLUESBREAKERS (featuring Eric Clapton) and as their drummer failed to turn up, Colin Victory was seconded into the band for the night, at the age of 15 years old!
As the band were developing quite a following, they attracted the attention of local Agent/Manager Gerry Kane who wanted to manage them. He got them a one off record deal with KING, and after the band listened to many songs in a studio in Savile Row, they decided to record a version of “She's Got Time” and an original by Dave Ryan “I Never Knew Love Like This”. Released on King KG.1058, in July 1967 it failed to have any impact and the band never released another record. The band continued on till 1969, when Dave Ryan left and they broke up shortly after. The 45 has become very sought after in the intervening 45 years, as it has become established as a Mod Classic and a constant floor-filler. The two tracks from the Acetate and the two from the 45 were released together on an EP on the ACID JAZZ label in 2012. ________________________________________________________________________

I am a collector who has been collecting records for nearly 30 years, and these records are either part of my collection that I no longer require, or have acquired over the years as part of a job lot I purchased.  My main motivation for selling records is to finance the purchase of further records for my collection.

I have been buying and selling on Ebay since July 2000, and have a 100% positive feedback rate.

I believe that collectable records are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, so all my auctions have a realistic starting price in relation to their rarity and/or condition.

______________________________________________________________

My gradings are based on the system used by Record Collector magazine as described below

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.??

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.??

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Postage and Packaging
All records are sent securely packaged in purpose made mailers with 2 cardboard stiffeners, clearly marked fragile.I  always remove the record  from the outer sleeve (to avoid seam split whilst in transit) and then insert the record and sleeve into a brand new polythene sleeve.
I only post items as per Ebay and Paypal terms & conditions, which require that items are sent by a method that is trackable. Due to this, please be advised that you check that the postages rates listed below are acceptable to you before bidding, but please be assured, P&P charges are only those incurred and represent no profit to me.
I do combined shipping ,so if you win more than one item it will work out a lot cheaper on the postage if I send them in the same mailer.
Please note: If the value of the item, or combined items,  exceeds the standard compensation rate for "signed for items", there will be no extra charge to you,  as I will cover the additional cost  for  the increased insurance.
