Description
Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles For Sale' 1964 first press STEREO vinyl LP!
This particular pressing is the very first STEREO pressing of Beatles For Sale, released in 1964. Stereo copies are considerably rarer than mono pressings as the demand for stereo records in 1964 was very low. Most people didn't have equipment that could play stereo records and those that did had to specially order stereo copies through their local record dealer! VERY RARE, DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
Artist: The Beatles
Title: Beatles For Sale
Catalogue Number: PCS 3062
Year: 1964
Number of Tracks: 14
Matrix Numbers: -1 -1
Mother Stampers: 5AO 10MR
Condition:
Vinyl (visual): Side 1 - there are some hairline scratches and very light marks - none that I can feel however! Still retains a nice gloss and shine. Rated as VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+. Label is VERY GOOD (has a name written in biro next to the parlophone pound sign). Side 2 - same as Side 1 but with a small feelable scratch to the end of track 6...doesn't feel deep. Play-tested and it does NOT cause any major issues, just some ticks but no skips etc on my system.
Audio: I have play-tested the first track on Side 1 and the first track on Side 2!! They both rate as VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT!
Minimum crackle on the run-in! Once the music starts, the crackle is background crackle only and all the instruments and vocals can be clearly heard! Plays A LOT better than it looks on these few tracks! Very punchy with crisp highs and lots of clarity on this early stereo mix! NO skips, no sticks and no jumps on these few tracks!
Sleeve: The original 1964 STEREO gatefold sleeve is currently rated as VERY GOOD! The front of the sleeve is nice and glossy and has intact laminate! It does have some laminate creasing and edgewear and also there is a very feint name by the 'stereo' text in the top right. Can only see it in certain lights and could probably be cleaned even more! There is also a tear on the rear panel near the entrance of the sleeve towards the bottom. The rear of the sleeve is similar to the front with lots of gloss and some laminate creasing. Inner gatefold is clean with some wear to the flipbacks. Spine is creased and pinched but is 100% readable.
Overall, the sleeve could definitely be upgraded but the disc is a great player!
DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES!!!
As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, a RARE early sixties Beatles record that everyone should own!
