Description
Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles - Revolver' 1966 FIRST PRESS STEREO Parlophone vinyl LP!
This particular pressing features an extra '.' in the Sold in UK statement (there are 3 dots insted of 2). It is a first press UK stereo Parlophone record from 1966. A stereo copy of a mid-sixties Beatles album is considered to be much rarer than an original mono copy as the demand for stereo records was very low at the time! Most of them had to be specially ordered through local record shops! A rare pressing - DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
Artist: The Beatles
Title: Revolver
Catalogue Number: PCS 7009
Year: 1966
Number of Tracks: 14
Matrix Numbers: -1 -1
Mother Stampers: 5AM 2AM
Condition:
Vinyl (visual): Side 1 - it does have quite a fair few amount of marks and hairlines. Some of them are lightly feelable but not deep. Rated as VERY GOOD. Label is VERY GOOD+. Side 2 - has some feelable marks on track 1 and track 7..nothing deep but they're there. Rated as GOOD+/VERY GOOD-. Label is VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+.
Audio: I have play-tested the first track on Side 1 and tracks 1 and 7 on Side 2 ONLY!!
Side 1, track 1 - Crackle on the run-in but nothing too heavy. A deep clean is definitely recommended however. The audio is VERY punchy and the highs are very crisp! The background crackle remains throughout but there is a lot of punch within the audio so a professional deep clean could help. NO skips, jumps or sticks! Rated as VERY GOOD-!
Side 2 track 1 - Crackle on the run-in again. It continues throughout the track but not as harsh as I thought it would be! Those few feelable marks cause some repetitive pops and one tiny skip on the piano solo section. Again, the audio is VERY punchy with lots of warmth and great crisp highs! Rates as VERY GOOD-!
Side 2 track 7 - some pops on the run-in but once the audio starts the warmth takes over! Lots of clarity on the vocal track with a wonderful stereo field - my favourite song of all time. The marks cause a few light pops but it did NOT skip or jump at all on my system! Rates as a solid VERY GOOD. I would say that this will be a playable record, graded higher than a collection filler. Will do for now until a better one comes along!
Inner Sleeve: The original EMITEX inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition! I would grade it stronger if it wasn't discoloured. It has NO SPLITS, NO RIPS and NO TEARS! Barely any creases, houses the record fantastically well.
Sleeve: The original STEREO flipback sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition! The front has a few marks and some laminate creasing towards the edges. Still retains a lovely gloss and shine and will clean up nicely! The rear of the sleeve is again nice and clean and free from writing. Flipbacks are held down tightly with some discolouraton - slight damage to bottom left (please see pictures!). The edges are all intact! The spine is 100% readable with some light creasing and light discolouration. Overall, not a mint sleeve but it looks great, is free from writing and houses the record perfectly!
PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES!!!
As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, a RARE STEREO Beatles record that everyone should own!
