"Let It Be"...
Have a look at my "Abbey Road" my "Let It Be" and the De Agostini re issues!!...
Scheduled for release on 3rd December 1965, a routine check on sound quality by EMI revealed a problem... The pressing was faulty... The bass and treble had been boosted, the sound was muddy in places and it was LOUD.... Rather than scrap the copies already pressed, EMI got Harry Moss (Their chief cutting guy) to recut each side again ( this was on the 19th November)... The new plates were not both applied immediately. Side 1 was replaced first giving 2/1 matrix (these are rarer than 1/1 matrix!) and side 2 next to give the common 2/2 matrix..
1/1 Is hard to find, I would guess that maybe 1 out of 50 copies that have passed through my hands in the last 40 years has been a 1/1 and I only recall 3 or 4 2/1! ..
The matrix numbers are as follows:
Side 1:...YEX 579-1
Side 2:...YEX 580-1...
The mothers and stampers are:..
Side 1:...4/AR...
Side 2:...?/AR....
You don't need strong light to see light hairlines and scuffs..Overall,it plays pretty well...There are a couple of noticeable clicks at the beginning of "Norwegian Wood" and a few less noticeable ones here and there...It doesn't stick or jump, background noise is minimal...It's not dished and it's not warped...
The labels are undamaged with clearly legible text..There are visible spindle trail and the edges of the B side centre hole are worn white..If there was a tax code on the label,it's no longer legible..
The sleeve (Full flipbacks) has enough defects to grade it as VG:..Wear to the opening edges...Some rubbing to the top and bottom edges...Worn corners...Some age yellowing to the back and some staining along the bottom flipback.... .
Plain white inner sleeve.
I don't think that I have missed anything, but if you have any questions, just ask!!..
Not the greatest copy but it's hard to find so low start of £5.00!!
