THE BEATLES

SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND

EARLY 1ST STEREO

1967 CAT. NO PCS 7027
Master Matrices YEX 637-1 / YEX 638-1

Complete with all 1967 1st Press components, this is  'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' in an overall Excellent Plus condition.
The original -1 /-1 Stereo version is regarded as rarer than the -1/ -1 Mono, owing to Mono record players still prevailing over Stereo in 1967, consequently being less demand for Stereo format records/ LP's. In addition to this, subsequent pressings of Sgt. Pepper over the decades in Stereo format have had re-mastered cuts of the original, whereas the Mono format of Sgt Pepper doesn't, and so finding a Stereo Sgt. Pepper with -1/-1 Matrix endings is more unlikely, espciallly in such amazing condition as this one. With such early mothers/ stamper codes aswell, that makes this a very early Stereo pressing, probably a first day seller.

Sleeve: In Mint Minus condition. It is very rare to find one in such a condition as this. The front panel and rear panel are unblemished besides two very small feint crease lines on the front, and one feint indent line on the rear, which has been exaggerated under light in the photo. The inner Gatefold of the Fab Four is completely unblemished by any marks or creases, but has just two very feint ink-less initials imprinted in the upper right corner, below the fold-over, so feint that hardly even shows up in the last photo in this listing. The spine looks as new, as does the inner Gatefold middle partition of the spine; there is no laminate bubbling or scuff wear to any edges or corners either. This is a superb original sleeve without even a trace of record ring-wear. Still opens with a 'crack' type sound and the unlaminated edges of the inner folds are pristine, and are normally always found with at least dust/ dirt residue on them.

The Psychedelic Fool's Inner Sleeve: Excellent condition. No splits to any of the edges, no marks or blemishes, neat opening slot with just a couple of storage indents that have gone into the paper by a few mm. Very light wear from initial use, just a little lifting to the fold-over top corners, where they ajoin. Has retained red tone well.
The 1967 1st Print Dark Green Cut-Out's Card: Excellent / Excellent Plus condition. A narrow feint discoloration line on the left edge is the only blemish to note, no creases at all, and no marks. No Record outline impression at all.

The Vinyl: Mint Minus. The surfaces are completely groove wear free, displaying a bright unblemished pressing shine. The surfaces look remarkable and basically un-played with ONLY THE VERY LIGHTEST AND FEINTEST signs of ever being played adorning the surface in just one or two areas on either side when viewed with the vinyl tilted angled under a direct light source, nothing at all obtrusive, and only superficial to the surfaces, and nothing more than the likely result of sleeve removal. The vinyl surfaces are smooth and clean, the pattern of the interwoven grooves can be seen which hold the propensity for the amazing Beatle psychedelic musical creation. No hairlines, scuffs, marks, warps or dinks. The item received careful use initially but was then put away, the vinyl removed from the original Fool's inner and held in an anti-static inner sleeve for most of the recent past.
Lays completely flat on the turntable, heavyweight Sixties vinyl.
The Labels: Mint Minus condition. No immediately visible wear to the spindle perimeter, unless looked at close up in immense detail, and no spindle location lines at all!
KT tax code still bold and unworn.
Mothers/ Stampers combinations:
Side 1 - 1 GG
Side 2 - 1 GP
1st Mothers on both sides, and 11th and 16th stampers respectively. Given the demand for The Beatles at this point it is fair to say would've been pressed probably for advance orders or at least for first day stock.

The Audio: Reflected by the condition of the vinyl, graded as Mint Minus. Plays smoothly from start to finish on each side with immense detail and perfect Stereo channeling. This is a surface-noise free player with no interruption or notable defects of any kind over any audio (or even in the short interludes between tracks - which only have the occasional and minor inevitable static that an old record carries), and the standard probably can't be beaten by anything else. An audiophile copy that it guaranteed not to disappoint.
