THE BEATLES – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL STEREO.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING STEREO PRESSING IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION, FEATURING A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF ‘0349280’.  Side two shows an embossed ‘KT’ stamp on the label and a ‘2’ matrix number, (this is normally  a  ‘1’).

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the double album gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition.  The top opening edges are all excellent+, the sleeve shows little signs of wear and tear. On the front it has the wording ‘The Beatles’ embossed and a unique individual SERIAL Number of 0349280, this number appears very clear and bold.  To the rear there is the word ‘Stereo’ printed,  the records are accessed from the top.  The spine is in excellent condition and measures 8mm and all the text is readable.  The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down.  

INNER SLEEVES: both are in very good+ condition and feature the two original BLACK inners, they have NOT been replaced.  One of the sleeves has a little creasing to one of the corners.  The other sleeve  has a little edge wear to the two sides. 

POSTER: the original poster is in near excellent condition, it is very white, fresh and clean, there is only a small amount of wear to the edges of a few of the folds.  There are NO pin holes, NO cellotape residue, NO writing (Biro) and other damage.

PHOTOS: are in very good+ condition, they are made of the original thick card.  They have NO  cellotape residue on,  NO writing (Biro) and NO pin hole damage.

VINYL: record One:   is in near excellent condition,  record Two:  is in near excellent condition.  The two records are of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl and are dark and shiny.  I have just played this album all the way through on my ‘Dual’ turntable and it sounded amazing, a really strong powerful period Stereo sound.  The records lay flat with no skips or jumps.   The matrix nos. are YEX 709-1, and very unusual YEX 710-2 !, YEX 711-1 and YEX 712-1.  The Mother/Stampers are: ‘ 2 GRG ’, and  ‘6?  -  GOR’  and   ‘2  -  GDA’  and    ‘1  -  OL’.  

THE LABELS:  are in excellent+ condition, featuring the original DARK green Apple colours.  ‘An EMI recording’ text  appears on all four of the labels,  all the labels show  ‘Sold in the UK’ text etc.  The George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’.   Unusually there is  a ‘KT’ embossed onto side two.

I am using the official grading system from Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
