THE CALLAS CARMEN, DELUXE PADDED BOX, DAN 143-5 Mono

This is the original very rare mono issue of 3-LPs with a gold HMV label and red dog / white angel in a deluxe red padded box catalogue number DAN 143-5 (DLS 143/3) with 3-booklets neatly inserted into the box lid. The set has Georges Prêtre conducting the Orchestre du Thèâtre National de L’Opéra (Paris), with Callas, Gedda, Grist, Massard.

The 3-LPs are in superb condition but on Side 2 there are a few VERY faint marks, which are almost certainly inaudible but could possibly generate light ticks, depending on your pick-up (we haven’t risked playing it). The 3-booklets (i.e. the full text, a translation of Merimee’s novella Carmen, and an illustrated resumé of the recording session) are all in pristine condition. Overall the box is in very good condition; the padded front has a few minor indentations (no splits) but the red covering is lifting on the top edge and rear.

Due to weight (approx. 2 kg) postage will be costly. If preferred the successful bidder could arrange for the set to be collected from our shop in Oxford by prior arrangement.
