This is an original 1966 pressing of Calliope #138 by 'THE CHARLES', a local Buffalo NY band featuring JOHN VALBY (whom some of you may also know from his later career as DR. DIRTY).

"Motorcyle" sounds like it was taken from some biker-movie soundtrack, with a very driving beat, guitar break, tambourines, organ, muttered obscenities), multi-part harmonies on the bridge and hilarious lyrics detailing some violent scenes. Maybe the ultimate garage bike anthem. Sounds like an uptempo garage punk version of a cross between The Doors and Steppenwolf.

FUZZ ACID & FLOWERS states ''they were Rochester, New York's answer to Leather Boy Milan''. YES on the Leather Boy comparison, NO to Rochester, though... they were from the suburbs of Buffalo, baby!

You can hear it on Scum Of The Earth, or on Victims Of Circumstance, Vol. 2. The flipside ain't great (''Down By The Riverside"), but it's okay. I hate to use the "R" word but I will - this 45 is Rare, even here in Buffalo.




CONDITION: Superb condition for this title. Labels are Near Mint (actually they're perfect and just like NEW). No defects of ANY kind- no writing, stickers, stamps, drillholes, tears, spindle trails, etc. Vinyl is Near Mint with no scuffs or marks of any kind. Probably was unplayed before I spun it just now. (I finalized a long-awaited trade for a couple copies today, and I think they are new old warehouse stock). Has some small vinyl bubbles - as most copies do - that make no ticks or sound, but there is minor surface noise due to the cheap vinyl they used. But again, that's how they all are. Playgraded NM-.
