Description
Released on EMI Records Harvest record label, catalogue number SHVL 797, in 1971 this is ELO's debut self titled album The Electric Light Orchestra. The record i am selling here is the very first, original Stereo pressing with the matrix numbers SHVL 797 A - 1 U on Side 1 and SHVL 797 B - 1 U on Side 2. As you can see from the photo in the listing, the song credits printed on the label on Side 1 run to 7 lines, which was only done on the first, pressing - on future pressings the credits were condensed to 6 lines. This record also comes housed in a textured gatefold cardboard sleeve whereas future pressings came in just a smooth cardboard sleeve.
Please note - Some of the first pressings of this album came with a printed lyric sheet insert. The album i am selling here does not have a lyric sheet with it.
I cannot stress enough how good a condition this record is in. It is in absolutely perfect, as new condition without a single mark/blemish showing on the vinyl. It looks like it has just been purchased brand new. To the best of my knowledge, i have only played the record twice since purchasing it. Obviously given it's condition, both sides of the record play perfectly, giving a great sound without a single skip, pop or crackle to he heard.
Both labels are in perfect condition. The record comes packaged in its original EMI Records Harvest sleeve, advertising other artists available on the Harvest label.
As mentioned, being the original, first release, the record comes packaged in a textured, gatefold cardboard sleeve which again is in fantastic condition given its age with no marks or creases evident.
I can honestly say that anybody looking to own a copy of the very first, original pressing of this album will not find one in better condition.
