Description

FLEUR-DE-LYS - " CIRCLES / SO, COME ON " Immediate Record Co. Ltd (56124) 1966.

This is the ultra rare 1966 Freakbeat/Psyche single by the now-legendary Fleur De Lys - I would go to greater lengths to talk up this single, but if your here looking at this page then I'm sure I don't need to reiterate what you already know and what is now so well documented.

On a personal note, this has to be my favourite Fleur De Lys record - whilst many prefer the even rarer "Mud In Your Eye" I think that this is not only the best record they cut, but one of the very finest of it's genre.

Original English pressing/issue.

Rated in the 2010 Record Collector Guide (written in 2008) as a £450 single but in the subsequent article the same Record Collector magazine ran on the band the following year, they upped the mint value to £800.

I am not worried about this 45 not selling for at least a half decent price so I will start this auction at 99p just to get things moving!

This record has been professionally cleaned on my MOTH record cleaning machine.

CONDITION:

VINYL  =  either EXCELLENT- (audible grading) or V.G.++ (visual grading) (This is not the easiest record to grade/describe so please read carefully; Both in daylight and under my bright grading lamp there are a quite a lot of light surface scuffs/marks clearly visible but when playing this record I am genuine surprised at how much better it sounds than looks. On both sides of the record there is some light surface noise during the silent intro which becomes inaudible as the music kicks in. Both sides play strongly, cleanly, absent of any excessive surface noise with no nasty clicks, pops, ker-thunks, etc. Also this record still sounds vibrant, not suffering from any of the dullness or heavy distortion that is associated with an overplayed record - the lack of spindle trails also supports this. Maybe some of those faint surface marks do make the quietest of sounds but I cannot hear them through the fantastic and seriously rocking music that is playing at the same time! (even when tested through my Sennheiser HD-25 headphones at high volume, this record stands up nicely)
Providing you are prepared to accept that you are listening to an original 1966 single, not a sterile remastered CD from the noughties, this 45 will not disappoint! As this record will not be selling for it's mint value but still sounds surprisingly good it could be the closest thing you will find to "good-value" for such a rare, expensive 45 - a  fine "real-world" copy. Note: I have thoroughly tested this record in my Linn LP12 turntable (which is generally quite critical test) and stand by my grading and description, although I cannot guarantee exactly how it will sound on your turntable - sorry to be so uptight, but there are some very silly people out there.)
For the serious bidders, I have recorded sound clips of both sides of this record - if you are in any doubt about anything I have described in this listing then please send me your e-mail address and I will forward the sound clips to you directly - this way, you can be sure of exactly what your bidding on and how far you wish to go when bidding.

LABELS  =  V.G.++ (Both sides are reasonably clean with hardly any spindle trails, but the B-side is afflicted by a dirty mark left by an old sticker and some blue biro that the previous owner has done a poor job of trying to remove, wearing a the label further - see photos)

SLEEVE  =  V.G.++ (No rips, stains, big creases, defacing, etc. But is a little crumpled all over, grubby along the top edge and split along the right hand side - it is at least the original sleeve though - see photos for further clarification)

NOTE: It's probably worth noting that we are an actually physical record shop trading for over twenty years, with literally decades of record grading and trading experience under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the self-proclaimed experts and have-a-go-heroes that currently clog up ebay, we know how to grade records! Please read my description carefully before you bid and you should be perfectly happy with your purchase - many of my gradings include a certain degree of "ebay caution".

On the request of a potential bidder I have made a small sound-clip of the first 30-40 seconds of the a-side - as I now have this file it only seems fair to offer to e-mail it to any other serious bidders. If you are interested, please send me an ebay message a.s.a.p. containing the e-mail address you would like it sent to.
