Description
Up for auction is an extremely rare, still-sealed US pressing (A&M SP 3122) of The Flying Burrito Brothers' classic debut album entitled THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN. I have no idea whether this is an original pressing, but this copy was recently found at an estate sale along with several other sealed rock albums. The album is quite heavy, and there is no bar code on the back cover.
THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN is one of the most influential rock 'n roll albums of all-time. Led by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, and featuring the beautiful steel guitar playing of Sneaky Pete Kleinow, The Flying Burrito Brothers were one of the first rock groups to successfully blend rock 'n roll with country music. This blend led to the formation of an entirely new genre known as country-rock. Without THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN it is highly likely that most of the modern-day country music heard on the radio would not exist. THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN also had an enormous influence on the sound of rock 'n roll music in the Seventies. Popular groups such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles, Poco and countless other bands owe a huge debt to The Flying Burrito Brothers for helping to shape their sound.
On a grading scale of M-, EX, VG+, VG, G, and P the condition of this album is as follows:

This factory-sealed copy is in absolutely pristine condition with no corner bends or tears to the shrink wrap. The lady from whom it was purchased is a musician, and she told me that since the late 1980's (when she obtained a compact disc player), her records had been safely stored in a closet.
If you are viewing this auction, you probably already know that sealed albums from the 1960's represent a piece of history. Who will eventually open this copy? - maybe you, maybe your kids, perhaps their kids, maybe nobody ever! Once this copy sells, it is out of my hands forever.
