RARE FIRST UK VINYL PRESSING !!
Description
A very rare opportunity to buy the ORIGINAL FIRST UK VINYL PRESSING, in superb shape, of this groundbreaking album which was withdrawn from sale almost immediately following it's release! It is now an extremely rare collector's item.
Included is the original mock advert 'flyer' that accompanied this first pressing.
(Background notes: the LP pioneered the use of sampling but the track 'The Queen And I' was stolen wholesale from Abba's 1976 hit 'Dancing Queen' and this outraged the Swedish superstars. A letter from the MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society) followed and The Jamms were instructed to cease all manufacture and distribution of the album, to take all possible steps to recover copies of the album, which would then be destroyed by MCPS, and also to hand over the master tapes and any other items used in the manufacture of the record which would also be disposed of.)
I managed to buy my copy back in 1987 before it was forcibly withdrawn from all record shops, and it has only been played two or three times.
The album is on the 'KLF Communications' record label, catalogue number JAMS LP 1. Inscriptions in the run-out grooves read 'MPO JAMS LP 1 A1' on side one, and 'MPO JAMS LP 1 B1' on side two.
The vinyl is in immaculate condition, looking virtually unplayed and with no discernible spindle marks on the label. Rating: 'Excellent++'.
The 'flyer' is like new. Rating: 'Excellent++'
The laminated sleeve is also in terrific shape with only a very slight scuff at the centre of the spine and minimal crease marks. Rating: 'Excellent'.
All of the images for this auction (which can be supersized) are photos of the actual sale item. No 'stock' pictures have been used!
