Description

THE KINKS ARE THE VILLAGE GREEN...UK PYE VINYL LP, MONO The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society
The Kinks were an English pop/rock group formed in 1963. They first gained prominence in 1964 with the hit single “You Really Got Me”, written by Ray Davies (it was their third single). The bands name came from their “kinky” dress sense of leather capes and boots worn on stage. The group’s original line-up consisted of Ray Davies (lead vocals, rhythm guitar and keyboards), Dave Davies (lead guitar and vocals), Pete Quaife (backing vocals and bass guitar), and Mick Avory (drums and percussion). The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society is their sixth album released in 1968.
Although, going by the spindle marks, this record has been played many times and it does have a lot of visible marks, the audio is a lot better than you would expect. Apart from, on side one, a few clicks at the beginning of track one and a couple of pops. And on side two, just a few very light clicks for a few seconds on a couple of occasions, it sounds great and is a great listen. It plays with no distortion, jumps, skips or sticks.
Side One: The Village Green Preservation Society; Do You Remember Walter?; Picture Book; Johnny Thunder; Last Of The Steam-Powered Trains; Big Sky; Sitting By The Riverside.
Side Two: Animal Farm; Village Green; Starstruck; Phenomenal Cat; All Of My Friends Were There; Wicked Annabella; Monica; People Take Pictures Of Each Other.
The album is on Pye Records, NPL 18233. Matrix side one: NPL18233A-13?W (scored out) 3?W (stamped). Matrix side two: NPL18233B-3?W (stamped).
Released in 1968. UK pressing. Mono.
Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system. If I see a mark it will be mentioned however light/small, apart from the usual very light paper scuffs/marks - usually caused by record being removed from the inner sleeve, which appear on nearly all old records and which are only visible under strong light)
Vinyl side 1: good (has quite a few marks and there are few clicks at the beginning of track 1 and a couple of pops, that apart sounds great).
Vinyl side 2: good (has quite a few marks and there are few very light clicks on a couple of occasions, that apart sounds great).
Cover (outer laminated, inner flipback, inside opening single leaf gatefold): fair (very scruffy, splits on spine, bad edge corner and spine wear, creases, marks on back - see photos).
The record plays with no jumps, skips or sticks and minimal crackle.
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
