This is the ultra-rare one-sided DJ Promo release of ‘Barbarism Begins At Home’ 12” by THE SMITHS.
"Barbarism Begins At Home" didn't originally get a commercial release in the UK. However in January 1985, two different specially pressed 12" promos were sent to DJs shortly before the release of the "Meat Is Murder" album. Both promo 12"s were numbered RTT171 but one featured the album version only while the other had the latter plus a shorter version edited down to 3:48.
This 12” is the pressing that features the full length (7 minute) version of the track, and is extremely hard to find these days.
The label has printed ‘DJ Copy’ and ‘Not For Sale’
The cover is the famous Viv Nicholson at the pithead shot, from her 1977 book "Spend Spend Spend". The vinyl has the etchings in the run-out grooves ‘These Are The Good Times’.
This is a stunning condition copy of one of the rarest of Smiths colectables.
The record itself is in pristine condition, and the sleeve is also absolutely immaculate.
