WOW, THIS IS A TRUE PIECE OF UK PSYCH / MOD / ISLAND RECORDS HISTORY !!! A RARE UK DOUBLE SIDED EMIDISC of an UNRELEASED - THE SMOKE / ISLAND RECORDS 1968 ACETATE !!! There was only ONE KNOWN COPY until now, and this is the second known copy, only this copy has TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THIS UNRELEASED SINGLE, so I could say it is THE ONLY KNOWN COPY !!!
The story was THE SMOKE recorded this single for ISLAND RECORDS in 1968 but then split up, so ISLAND RECORDS canceled the release !!! This is a TRUE UK PSYCH / MOD masterpiece from this GREAT UK BAND, it is their superior version of the TRAFFIC track !!! This ACETATE has 2 SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT VERSIONS of this great lost single !!! It was comped from the one and only known ACETATE on the: PERFUMED GARDEN and HEN’S TEETH 3: CATHERINE ON THE WHEEL and PSYCHEDELIA 3: MEMORIES and PSYCHEDELIC PSTONES 3: HOUSE OF MANY WINDOWS - PSYCH compilations !!!
THIS WILL BE YOUR ONCE IN A LIFETIME TO GET THIS LEGENDARY UNRELEASED SINGLE IN IT’S ACETATE FORMAT !!!
This ACETATE, like others I am listing all came from a retired RECORD INDUSTRY PERSON and are all 100% ORIGINAL !!!
The tracks are: UTTERLY SIMPLE (VERSION 1) / UTTERLY SIMPLE (VERSION 2).
The ACETATE was pressed by ISLAND RECORDS through the EMIDISC facilities !!!
The condition of the ACETATE is SIDE 1: G+/ VG- (marks and scuffs and slight white marks that might be cleaned with care, but plays well all the way with the usual crackle acetates tend to have), SIDE 2: G/G+ (scuffs and marks and the beginning of flaking in one spot that causes some clicks and pops and the odd skip, but this only last a few seconds, plays with the usual crackle acetates have, this side also has a minot label tear) !!!
