Description
So, after five decades of collecting vinyl and Hi-Fi, the time has finally come to downsize. Over the next few months, with great reluctance, I will be gradually selling off my treasured collection of records, cds and hi-fi equipment. It will take a while !!! For instant sale is a superb condition copy of a FIRST UK STEREO pressing of the 'WHITE LIGHT, WHITE HEAT' album from 1968 by THE VELVET UNDERGROUND. It is on the VERVE label and has the catalogue number SVLP 9201 indicating that it is the stereo version.
Things that indicate that this is a true first pressing include :
- Glossy cover with skull - "flaps folded" back cover.
- "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups" on top right
- "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending S/VLP 9201" on bottom right
- "Here She Comes Now" on the sleeve and side 1 label (not 'There She Comes Now')
- Lou Reed "guitar" credit
- No Warhol credit
- "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions" text on labels.
- No "stereo" text on front cover.
The overall condition of both the sleeve and vinyl is at least excellent. It would be a superb addition to any record collection.
The sleeve is in fantastic condition with hardly any marks or wear at all. However, there is a small amount of 'lift' in the front bottom left-hand corner lamination which you can just see in photo 6. Also a small amount of 'grubbiness' on the rear. The spine is sharp, clear and fully readable and in excellent condition. For a sleeve of this age it really is in superb condition. Please study all the photos to see the condition for yourself. The labels are in excellent condition with just a few 'spindle trails' indicating that the record has hardly been played. The record is also in really excellent condition and plays superbly in high quality with only occasional light surface noise and an occasional 'pop'. There are a couple of light surface marks from the inner sleeve but mostly the surface looks in superb condition. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better example of this fine album. The album will be wrapped in bubblewrap before posting to ensure that it does not get damaged on its journey. I will dispatch it in a proper record mailer and will post within one working day of purchase by Special Delivery post so that it gets on its way to you as soon as possible. Although expensive, it does guarantee next-day delivery before 1pm and, most importantly, fully insures the record which is safer for you and for me.
