Description
Here’s a real oddity. Essentially this is a one-sided UK 7" Emidisc acetate from 1966 of ‘Happy Jack’ by the Who – I’m pretty sure this is exactly the same as the released version. But although the B-side just has a blank EMIdisc label and the grooves are mainly blank, it does have the first fifty seconds of ‘The Addicted Man’ by the Game , which was recorded at the R G Jones studio in Morden (this acetate came from a former R G Jones studio engineer), and was promptly banned when it came out because of the lyrical content. Even more oddly, this is clearly a rougher demo version of the song, with cruder instrumentation and vocals. Shame it isn’t the whole song, of course, but nevertheless, a fascinating item for general UK freakbeat/psych collectors as well as dedicated Who fans.
