Description
A beautiful copy of the original 1939 first-ever release of the Wizard of Oz soundtrack featuring Judy Garland,on Decca 4 x 78rpm disc album set No. 74.
Includes an excellent copy of the original pressing of Over the Rainbow, a record which in itself is quite valuable.
As shown by the pictures, I would grade all four discs at least VG+, shiny and clean with only a few light scuffs.
One disc has a small (2cm) light scratch at the start and ‘If I Only Had a Heart’ has a light scratch at about a minute in, a couple of other discs have tiny surface marks and I’ve included close up shots to show all of these, none of which badly affect playback.
The cover is in very good shape, with a complete and readable spine, which is tearing on the front and part of the rear at the fold as is common to most examples of this set. There’s certainly enough original material for a repair if desired.
The binding is still good. A little wear at the edges, but overall just a really fine copy, as you can see.
It’s a very rare item to find in the UK (most are still in the USA).
For postage, be assured that as a collector for over 20 years I have experience of packing fragile shellac records and the album will be double-box packed for maximum protection, with the discs in their own high quality sleeves, rather than within the album which offers less security.
Postage costs reflect this extra packaging and insurance coverage.
International shipping will be calculated by eBay using their Global Shipping Program.
